The benefit auction to raise money for FFA hosted by Titan Tire is back for 2019 at the Farm Progress Show in Decatur, Ill. You can buy tires at reasonable prices and bid on other merchandise provided by other show vendors. All money raised through the auction will be split between the Illinois and Indiana FFA foundations.
These two organizations are the fundraising backbones for FFA in their respective states. The money they raise annually supports all kinds of FFA activities in each state throughout the year.
“At this auction, 100% of the proceeds goes back to FFA,” says Scott Sloan, Titan Tires. The tire auction will be at 2 p.m. Aug. 28 in Titan Tire’s display area, Booth 933. It’s located at the corner of Central Avenue and Ninth Street in the northeast quadrant of the show grounds.
FFA state officers from both states assist with the auction and will be on hand during the show to greet visitors and tell their stories. Both states elected new officers for 2019-20 this summer.
The FFA state officers will serve as ring people during the auction. A professional auction company donates its services to make the sale a success.
Tires and more
All tire sizes are offered for sale. Sloan notes the offering will range from tires for skid-steer loaders to sprayer tires. Plenty of tractor tires will also be offered. Typically, either two or four tires of each type and size in the sale are offered to the highest bidder. A complete list and description of tires should be available before the show.
This is a real auction with real money on the line. If you get a bargain, it’s yours to keep. FFA members will assist in helping you get small tires to your vehicle after the auction concludes.
If interested in larger tires, check with auction organizers in advance so you know when and how you can obtain tires if you’re the successful bidder.
Look for more than just tires at the auction, too. Typically, other vendors at the show donate everything from seed and chemicals to toys to be auctioned off to help raise funds for FFA.
Sloan says there’s a special incentive for would-be tire buyers at this year’s auction. The top bidder who spends the most at the auction during the entire day will receive a $1,000 rebate redemption for Titan and Goodyear Farm Tire purchases in the future, he notes.
