IT’S BEEN A LONG TIME: Because of the pandemic, 2018 was the last time the Farm Progress Show was in Boone, Iowa.Paula Mohr

It doesn’t seem like it’s been that long, but four years can go by fast, especially if you drop a pandemic in the middle. The Farm Progress Show hasn’t been in Boone, Iowa, since 2018, and we’re excited to return to the Central Iowa Expo location.

Mark your calendar for Aug. 30-31 and Sept. 1. Gates open at 8 a.m. on Aug. 30, and visitors will find plenty of new tools and technologies to see. You’ll also get to check out some interesting new features.

Floating tractor, concert, robots

A highlight of the 2018 show was the floating tractor. To demonstrate “flotation,” Trelleborg/Mitas put some big tires on a New Holland T4 tractor and then sent it out onto a pond on the show’s east side. The company returns with the same demonstration, but for 2022, you’ll find those big tires on a red tractor.

The company admits it’s a kind of stunt, but it’s also making a point that with the right tires and inflation pressures, you can reduce compaction. With the rise of IF and VF tires, and proper inflation technology, farmers are seeing a benefit.

I’m teasing you right now, so watch Farm
ProgressShow.com for more details, but there will be a concert for the first time in Boone. Our experience last year in Decatur was exciting and proved we can enjoy afterhours entertainment at the show.

One area I want to highlight is autonomy. We’ve been a showplace for new autonomous tools, and that’s going to expand in 2022. While all the details aren’t locked down yet, you can be sure it will be an informative look at how this driverless technology is expanding.

We’ve got the demo fields planted, despite the lack of help from the weather, and we’re looking forward to an excellent year back in Iowa.

Register early, enter faster

One idea to consider is registering for the show early. That way you’ll have that ticket in hand when you arrive, and you can get in a lot faster. You can register at FarmProgressShow.com. Get those tickets early and be ready to join the fun.
