In the early morning hours before the Farm Progress Show gates open, drivers will be heading for the Central Iowa Expo site near Boone. Over the years since the show was first held on this site in 2008, traffic refinements have been made.
Familiarizing yourself with the directions to the show is always recommended. The show was last held at Boone in 2022. Improvements have been made this year with a new traffic route from the north.
New traffic routes should make it easier to get to the Farm Progress Show.
Rick Wild, senior operations manager for the Farm Progress Show, says this new route allows for easier access to the showgrounds.
“We are really excited about the upcoming 2024 show,” Wild says. “We are adding an entirely new traffic route into the show. Now that an overpass has been built over the railroad tracks along the north side of the show site, we are able to bring traffic in from the north on highway 17.”
Traffic coming into the show site using that route will not have to get on U.S. Highway 30, which adds flexibility for entering the site during the days of the show. It also helps the law enforcement folks direct traffic into the show site.
As you travel to the show, watch for any directions given by local law enforcement. There might be contingencies for managing traffic to help speed you in and out of the site.
