This morning, U.S. Congressman David G. Valadao (CA-21) signed a discharge petition to trigger a vote on H.Res. 774, a resolution containing four separate immigration bills.

The resolution, referred to as “Queen of the Hill,” provides consideration of H.R. 4760, the Securing America's Future Act but allows for four separate substitute amendments. As introduced, H.Res. 774 will allow for debate on the House Floor of H.R. 4760, the Securing America's Future Act, H.R. 3440, the DREAM Act, legislation offered by Speaker Ryan and House leadership, and H.R. 4796, the USA Act.

Congressman Valadao stated, "Immigration reform is not a partisan issue, and, for far too long, Republicans and Democrats alike have failed to provide America with a solution. Each of the four pieces of legislation included in the Queen of the Hill Resolution aim to reform our immigration system in a unique and diverse way. At the very least, each proposal deserves to be fully debated and considered in Congress.”

He continued, “Since coming to Congress, I have worked with Republicans and Democrats to repair our broken system, implement a solution for DACA recipients, and secure our border. However, this issue has gone unresolved for too long. Addressing immigration reform in the House cannot wait. I am serious about making real progress and will remain committed to doing whatever it takes to repair our broken immigration system.”

In January, Congressman Valadao cosponsored H.R.4796, the USA Act. Most recently, in March, Congressman Valadao cosponsored H.Res. 774, the Queen of the Hill Resolution.
