YOU’RE INVITED: Iowa Women in Agriculture is holding a virtual three-hour, three-speaker conference this year instead of meeting in person. Farm Progress

Mark your calendar to join in and listen online to the Iowa Women in Agriculture annual conference on July 30. This will be the organization’s first-ever virtual event.

The 14th annual one-day conference will pivot to a three-hour event. The presentations will focus on commodity prices, financial risk management, global interaction of human and animal health and the environment, and the role of ag women in nonpartisan political and civic engagement. You do not have to be a member of Iowa Women in Ag to register and view the presentations.

The free conference is from 9 a.m. to noon. Preregistration is required. Visit iowawomeninag.org for the conference link and registration details.

Featured speakers and their topics will be:

Angie Treptow, Farm Credit Services of America regional vice president, east-central Iowa. She will offer a 2020 financial overview, tips for working with lenders and key financial coping strategies.

Heather Fowler, National Pork Board director of producer and public health, will do a deep dive into the lessons learned from COVID-19. She’ll also provide an update on African swine fever and the need for a one-health approach connecting animal and human health, and our shared environment.

Paula Dierenfeld, mayor of Johnston, Iowa, will encourage women to contribute their skills, knowledge and energy to civic and public service. “Just do it — we need more women,” she says.

The conference will offer an interactive, participatory experience, featuring Q&As, participant polls and virtual trivia, as well as ample breaks between presentations.

Select presentations from this year’s program will be archived at iowawomeninag.org
