Those in agriculture survived 2021 mostly unscathed by some of the most troubling policy proposals that were keeping farmers up at night. As we turn the calendar to 2022 and the midterm elections loom, we still have plenty of regulations and legislation to be aware of moving forward.

JacquiFatka2021-450x450.jpgJacqui Fatka, long-time policy editor at Farm Futures, will bring her valuable agricultural policy insight to the stage of the Farm Futures Business Summit on Thursday, January 20, 2022, as part of the two-day risk management meeting to be held in Coralville, Iowa.

The Biden administration’s Build Back Better bill could see another attempt of revival in January, but then most of the work on Capitol Hill will turn to appropriations and Congressional members positioning themselves best for the 2022 midterm elections.

Fatka will offer an early insight into the impact of those elections on legislation, including the 2023 Farm Bill. The House Agriculture Committee has already promised hearings could start soon on the upcoming farm bill discussion. Find out more about what priorities could be and the funding outlook and focus for the five-year farm bill reauthorization.

The Biden administration has also taken steps to repeal and rewrite the waters of the U.S. rule – WOTUS. How will agricultural groups try to encourage this administration to avoid the pitfalls seen in the Obama administration’s 2015 rule?
