Flood devastation in the South: A readers' perspective

Flooding in recent weeks has not only caused widespread devastation to homes and businesses in the Mid-South, in many cases necessitating evacuation, it has also brought devastation to crops in the field and damage to farmland, farm structures, and equipment. In many cases, roads and bridges have been affected by floodwaters, making travel and movement of goods challenging. Particularly hard hit is northeast Arkansas, where late April/early May torrential rains have caused extensive flooding of areas surrounding the Black River and White River. Similar situations have occurred in areas around the Missouri River in the Bootheel. These photos have been submitted by our readers.

Is there flooding in your area? Send us your photos of the flood to [email protected].
