Carthage Seed Business Expands Soybean Capacity

Andrews Farm and Seed partners with Pioneer to boost soybean seed production.

Andrews Farm and Seed, Carthage, recently announced a partnership to expand its Pioneer soybean seed production capacity. The Andrews Farm and Seed will join with the Pioneer soybean production location in Litchfield, Ill., to condition, package and ship Pioneer soybeans.

"Seed is the conduit that will deliver genetic traits from the laboratory to the production field," said Lynn Andrews, manager of Andrews Farm and Seed. "Everyone at our company is looking forward to the opportunity to partner with a company dedicated to excellence in the genetics business. We are privileged to be the connection between top-quality seed producers using these traits and the seed distribution arm of Pioneer Hi-Bred."

Pioneer will manage the grower contracting and will oversee the conditioning, packaging and shipping processes.

Andrews Farm and Seed, Inc. is a second-generation, family-owned seed company with 10 employees. Co-owners Hal and Lynn Andrews and company provide seed production, conditioning, warehousing and shipping services.
