The other day, the Koffe Klutcher crew celebrated “Thanksmas.” You know, that dizzying time between being stuffed with Thanksgiving turkey and paying for presents stuffed under the Christmas tree.
• Cornhead Cal loves Thanksgiving and Christmas for one reason — the spread of food his wife puts on the family table. He ignores the spread all the gravy and stuffing puts on him — only visible in a rear-view mirror.
• M.E. Bucksnot came in, direct from early morning hunting, and bragged about his new rifle, his up-scale camo-painted 4-wheel ATV and matching scabbard, and his “pro hunter” attire — but nothing to show for it, unless Cabelas’ cash receipts count.
• Jingling bells sounded the arrival of Barn Bette, the eternal optimist dairy farmer. Yes, there’re some still living.
• Even Preacher showed up with his reminder that “Thanksmas” was a season made for being thankful for our blessings and forgetful of our bummers.
• As usual, I.M. Dum remained glum. He’s so “scrooged,” he brought his own coffee and creamer to Klutchers.
