Kansas City, Mo., has its share of killings. There have been 121 there this year. There was a brazen daylight killing of lawyer there this week. He was returning home after walking his kids to school.

FFA came to Indianapolis this week. Secretary Sonny Perdue spoke at the National FFA Convention there yesterday. It’s the 90th annual convention.

I’ve watched this for more than 40 years that I’ve been a farm broadcaster. In August, farmer Joe Penny hit a deer with his motorcycle and died in the crash. This week more than 3 dozen people turned out to harvest the fields of Joe Penny near Decatur, Neb. Local grain elevator provided free food. Joe’s daughter said it was so moving, it really brought home what her dad meant to people.
