Max Armstrong talks about the importance of checking on your neighbors in this cold. (audio)

About a dozen people have died in this cold in our region. More local officials are reminding us to check on our neighbors, especially if they are elderly or have been ill.

Farmers are feeling better, according to DTN/Progressive Ag survey. Survey was conducted in November showed increasing optimism. Better than expected crop yields contributed, but also noticed lower crop prices. Health care premiums under Obamacare have become one of largest expenses on the farm.

The power lines have been humming in this cold. Local folks in some areas have been hearing the noise, which occurs when there is more current moving through the lines.
