GET INVOLVED: The Office of the Minnesota Secretary of State is seeking applicants for a number of vacancies on state boards, councils and committees. The Office of the Minnesota Secretary of State released notice of vacancies for various state boards, councils and committees Nov. 2 that are accepting applications.

All Minnesotans are encouraged to apply and serve in demonstration of public service.

Below is a partial list of the newest vacancies that may be of interest to farmers and rural residents:

Agricultural Chemical Response Compensation Board. 1 seat, representative

Board of Animal Health. 1 seat, licensed veterinarian

Board of Water and Soil Resources. 1 seat, citizen member; 1 seat, county commissioner; 1 seat, elected city official — non metro; 1 seat, SWCD supervisor

Center for Rural Policy and Development. 1 seat, business rep; 2 seats, private foundation representative.

Clean Water Council. 1 seat, business organization; 1 seat, city government; 1 seat, county government; 1 seat, environmental organization; 1 seat, farm organization; 1 seat, fishing organization — statewide; 1 seat, watershed district

Good Food Access Program Advisory Committee. 1 seat, community-based org-food security; 2 seats, economic development, health equity, financial or other experience; 1 seat, politician subdivision; 1 seat, public health expert representative; 1 seat, rural economic or community development representative; 1 seat, statewide hunger relief organization representative

Lessard-Sam Outdoor Heritage Council. 2 seats, public member; 2 seats, public member House appointment; 1 seat, public member Senate appointment

Minnesota Agricultural & Economic Development Board. 1 seat, public member

Minnesota Agricultural Education Leadership Council. 2 seats, governor appointee

Minnesota Board of Veterinary Medicine. 1 seat, public member

Minnesota Emerging Entrepreneur Program. 3 Seats, member

Minnesota Rural Finance Authority. 2 seats, public member

Rural Health Advisory Committee. 2 seats, Minnesota House of Representatives members; 1 seat, Minnesota Senate representatives

Applications must be submitted within 21 days of the “Publish Date” listed on the secretary of state’s Open Positions page.

To apply, visit the Open Positions page and scroll down to find the correct agency, board or council. Choose the correct seat type and click the button that says “Apply.” The system will walk you through creating an application profile. Paper applications also may be submitted.
