November 10, 2017

There was quite a bit of agriculture news this week, including crop report that showed us the highest corn production ever.

Steve Alexander fills in for Max Armstrong.

With Veteran’s Day weekend upon us, I’d like to salute one of our veterans. 99-year-old Roberta Pendleton is still going strong. Sioux City High School graduate. Signed on with Women Accepted for Volunteer Emergency Service (WAVES).  She was transferred to Long Island and was in New York City when war ended in 1945. She returned to Iowa after the war and Don Pendleton became her husband. Together, they raised five children.

16 million Americans served in World War. The oldest living veteran is Richard Overton of Austin, Texas. He’s 111.
