Steele, ND, veterinarian honored
The North Dakota State University Saddle and Sirloin Club has named its Little International Agriculturalist of the Year. Arlyn Scherbenske, DVM, operates the Steele Veterinary Clinic and works part time as a technical service representative for Zoetis.

Fedje is potato leadership class member
David Fedje, Crystal, N.D., is one of the 23 members of the 2017 Potato Industry Leadership Institute class supported by the National Potato Council, Potatoes USA and Syngenta.

Vaughns named to leadership roles
Craig and Kelly Vaughn from Cavalier, N.D., will serve on the National American Farm Bureau Federation’s Young Farmers and Ranchers Committee. The couple will serve a two-year term. The AFBF Young Farmers and Ranchers Committee is made up of 16 positions representing all regions of the U.S.

CoBank donates $10,000 to FFA Adventure Center
The South Dakota FFA Foundation has received a donation of $10,000 from CoBank on behalf of Stephanie Herseth Sandlin, a member of the co-op bank’s board of directors. The money will be used to support the FFA Ag Adventure Center, an exhibit building at the South Dakota State Fair that features hands-on agricultural experiences that reflect modern farming processes.

SD Farmers Union scholarships
The South Dakota Farmers Union Foundation recently awarded $500 scholarships to the following three students whose parents are South Dakota Farmers Union members: Haley Bialas, Dimock; Reece Schulte, Orient; and Samuel Schumacher, Stickney. "These scholarships ensure that the young individuals focusing on rural endeavors are supported along the way. Keeping students in South Dakota is important for the legacy and sustainability of rural communities,” said Rachel Haigh-Blume, SDFU education director.
