We all have Thanksgiving on our minds and for many there are two key menu items – turkey and sweetpotatoes. In this episode of Around Farm Progress, Sarah McNaughton, Dakota Farmer, talks turkey – actually she shares what she learned visiting a successful operation in North Dakota. That business offers a fascinating look at the industry and McNaughton offers up some fun facts.

The it's on to North Carolina with John Hart, Southeast Farm Press, to talk about sweetpotatoes. We're using the one-word version for this crop which the industry says is not a potato, but a root vegetable. The one-word name sweetpotato, Hart tells us, is more scientifically correct.

With a majority of sweetpotatoes eaten in this country raised in North Carolina, Hart shares some interesting agronomic tips about this increasingly popular crop.

Two top menu items in industries that are changing. We even offer an interesting sweetpotato surprise.

Give it a listen.
