Oren and Patti Stahl are happy with the combination shop-house that they recently built on their farm. The Freeman, S.D., couple built the shop-house — a “shouse” — when their eldest son Joshua and his family came back to the farm.

The “shouse” cost less them less to build than a house and shop separately, Oren says.
