This restored red barn is beautiful by itself. When owners Jim and Karen Dubach display the American flag on the side of the barn, it’s an even more moving image for those who drive by.

That’s why Olivia Reynolds snapped this picture. She happened to take it on Flag Day 2020.

Reynolds notes the red, white and blue barn and flag go together. But then, she knows the story behind the owners. She believes the barn has a deeper meaning for them because of the lives they have lived.

According to Reynolds, Jim was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1954, and proudly served in the Korean War. That’s one reason why he and Karen work together to display the American flag as much as possible for others who pass by to enjoy.

As Reynolds says, “One thing unifies and holds our nation together — the American flag. Each morning as the sun rises, may we all remember the sacrifice.”

Well said.

Keep spotting!

Reynolds’ uncle, Randy Reynolds, urged her to send in the photo and story about the barn “spotted” in her community. You can find it just outside Linn Grove in Adams County, Ind. The town sits along the Wabash River.
