Channel flipping, I was “dumbified” by a TV show about being “best dressed.” LOL! Naturally, my mind spaced out to what that means out in the country.

Turns out, it depends. Best dressed for hunting? For working cows? For manure hauling? For a livestock show? For a meeting? How about a date night?

“For me,” sez Barn Bette, “it’s about which boots to put on — field boots, the mucks, the snows or my Tony Lamas.”

“You gotta be versatile,” adds M.R. Cowz. “I keep clean jeans, boots and a T-shirt in the back of my pickup.”

“A farmer’s wardrobe is pretty simple,” adds Corn Head Cal. “Mine hangs on about six hangers.”

“The only times I wear a suit,” sez Preacher, “is to marry or bury.”

Cowboy Bob, who’s hooked on show cattle, has a whole different take: “Best dressed means a straight topline, a clean coat with a little shine, no manure stains, maybe a tied-on tail bush.”
