Craig Uden, Hank Bounds, Ronnie Green recognized by Alpha Gamma Rho
The Kappa Chapter of the Alpha Gamma Rho fraternity at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln recently celebrated its 100th year as the fraternity for agriculture at UNL. Alumni from throughout Nebraska and the Midwest came to Lincoln this past weekend to commemorate the anniversary, which coincided with the organization's annual Founder's Day.

Alpha Gamma Rho honored Craig Uden, the National Cattlemen's Beef Association president, who manages a feedlot near Lexington, with Outstanding Contributions to Agriculture during its annual Founder's Day celebration held in downtown Lincoln. The honor is awarded to people that have made significant contributions to any aspect of agriculture through their hard work and expertise.

In addition, the chapter initiated UNL President Hank Bounds as an honorary member.

Ronnie Green, UNL Chancellor and an alumnus of the Beta Eta Chapter of Alpha Gamma Rho at Virginia Tech, was honored with the Outstanding Alumnus of the Year award.

NCTA Aggies compete at Cattleman's Classic
Freshman and sophomore students from the Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture in Curtis fared well in the Nebraska Cattlemen's Classic in Kearney.

As a team, the NCTA Aggies ranked third in placings, seventh overall and ninth in reasons. Individually, Emilye Vales of DeWitt was fourth in placings and seventh overall judge. Dean Fleer of Pierce was 20th in placings.

Other Aggies on the team were: Eleanor Aufdenkamp, North Platte; Nathan Lashley, Curtis; Max Melvin, Adams; Katharine Schudel, Loup City; Sam Seberger, Lexington; and Braden Wilke, Columbus.

Assistant coaches are Bailey Hinrichs of Ayr and Wade Vallery of Plattsmouth.

Nebraska Agricultural Leadership Council elects new officers
The Nebraska Agricultural Leadership Council elected new officers and board members during its annual meeting in March.

Newly elected officers include board Chairman Leland Poppe, North Platte; Jarid Childears, North Platte, vice chairman; Stephanie Liska, Wayne, secretary; and Brad Lubben, Eagle, treasurer.

Newly elected board members include Gerald Clausen of Lincoln and Jerry Catlett of Bruning. Re-elected for a second three-year term were Cindi Allen of Ogallala, Bryan Barrett of Gering, Galen Frenzen of Fullerton and Royce Schaneman of Denton.

Nebraska Pork Producers elect new directors and officers
Nebraska Pork Producers recently elected new directors and officers at their annual meeting in Lincoln.

Russ Vering, Central Plains Milling in Howells, was re-elected association president. Darin Uhlir of St. Paul will serve as first vice president. Tim Chancellor of Broken Bow assumed the position of second vice president. Kevin Peterson of Osceola was elected to fill the third vice president position. Elected to his first two-year term as director is Paul Segner of Friend. Alan Stephens of Elkhorn and Alesha Meyer of Diller were elected as alternate directors.

John Csukker and Michael Luckey of Columbus, Stuart Spader of Waco, Darin Uhlir of St. Paul and Aaron Reichmuth of Humphrey were elected to serve another two-year term on the board of directors. Retiring from the board of directors was Aaron Kavan of York.
