There's a move underway at Massey Ferguson to update and upgrade the tractor line. The company already started its launch of a new global tractor series - with the 4700 - which offers a range of interesting updates. And the introductions continue with the new 5700SL lineup that supercedes the 5600.

At first glance the new 5700SL may not look that different than its predecessor, but it does have new global-focused new features that offer competitive performance in this class ranging from 110 to 130 engine hp. And the tractor is already getting global attention since the MF5713SL was named Tractor of the Year 2016 in the Best of Utility Category at Agritechnica.

Blane Clarke, a product marketing manager at Massey Ferguson, gave us a walk around during the National Farm Machinery Show last month showing that this tractor is available in both Classic and Deluxe Editions with cabs. The Deluxe version's roomy cab and has a feature called SpeedSteer as an option. With SpeedSteer the operator can adjust the steering ratio for more or fewer turns of the steering wheel. That way you can match the work at hand - whether it's loader work, or making quicker headland turns during baling.

"You might want four turns for headlands, but only one turn when using the tractor as a loader," says Clark. "That can reduce operator fatigue."

The 5700SL retains the steep sloped hood that started with the 5600, Clark notes, providing great visibility when using a loader too. The cabs on this lineup have a six-post design and a narrow cross section too, for better forward visibility. There's even an optional Viso Roof, with a window in the roof for improved loader views too.

Engine power comes from a 4.4-liter 4-cylinder Agco Power diesel engine that uses only selective catalytic reduction - diesel exhaust fluid - to meet Final Tier 4 emission standards. "There's no regeneration process with these tractors," Clark points out.

The in-cab display includes an all-digital dash similar to what's found on larger models in the MF lineup, and Clarke notes farmers will see a bigger display for easier reading of what's happening during operation. In fact the Setup and Information Screen is 50% larger and has 10 times the resolution of the Dash Control Center on previous models.

The 5700SL retains the Dyna-4 tranmission with 16 forward and 16 reverse speeds for smooth shifting options. And there options like mechanical cab suspension and front axle suspension available. You can learn more by visiting masseyferguson.us/products/tractors.
