Fertilizer Tools

Nitrogen toolbar
Hagie Manufacturing Company offers its NTB nitrogen toolbar in 12-row and 16-row configurations. In either case, the 6-ft. clearance allows growers to side-dress nitrogen later in the growing season — in some cases after tassels have topped. NTB units are set for 30-in. rows but can accommodate 20-, 22- or 36-in. rows. They are capable of applying 80 to 100 lbs. of nitrogen at 14 to 16 mph, about twice the speed of tractor-pulled units.

List prices start at around $32,000 for the NTB 12-row unit and around $42,000 for the 16-row unit. Contact Hagie Mfg. Co., Dept. FIN, Box 273, Clarion, IA 50525, 800/247-4885, or locate a Hagie representative by region at

Fertilizer applicator
Montag Manufacturing’s dry fertilizer application unit splits the air for each row prior to metering the fertilizer, resulting in more precise application that is especially useful in strip tillage. The complete unit (polytank, metering system and framework) can be mounted on a toolbar or cart, including the Montag autosteer cart. The company claims that the technology can reduce fertilizer use by as much as a third.

The system can be used with any dry fertilizer or fertilizer blend and is available with a 6- or 9-ton tank and in 8-, 12-, 16- or 24-row configurations. List prices start at $17,830 for a 6-ton, 8-row unit and go up to $28,820 for a 9-ton, high-output 24-row unit. Montag carts list from $12,930 to $21,830.

Ammonia trailer
Circle K Manufacturing Company’s Deuce 1000 doubles the amount of anhydrous ammonia growers can haul in a single trip by accommodating 2,000-gal. tanks on a single trailer that still fits on a 10-ft.-wide scale. The Deuce 1000 also provides an operator access platform across the front for easier filling, super single semi tires and an extendable tongue for easier hookups. An optional light kit and brakes are available.

Total package price for the Deuce 1000 running gear and 2,000-gal. tanks is $13,800. Growers who own older 1,000-gal. tanks can purchase the running gear alone for $6,800 and reuse their existing tanks. Contact Circle K Manufacturing Co., Dept. FIN, 27427 Highway B, Oregon MO 64473, 660/446-2002,
