Fifth-wheel system keeps truck bed empty

The Freedom towing system keeps fifth-wheel hardware out of the truck bed and allows the same pickup to accommodate both gooseneck and fifth-wheel trailers. The towing system moves the fifth-wheel head to the trailer pin box in an inverted position. The head couples to a kingpin adapter located in the “lock-and-load” under-bed mounting assembly. When the fifth-wheel trailer is parked, only the kingpin remains in the bed of the truck. The system can handle fifth wheels weighing up to 20,000 lbs. and goosenecks of up to 25,000 lbs.

Price: $1,060 to $1,230. Contact Putnam Hitch Products, Dept. FIN, 211 Industrial Ave., Bronson, MI 49028, 800/336-4271, visit or, or circle 195.

Novice-friendly foam sealant

DAPtex Plus window and door foam sealant is a user-friendly sealant that cleans up with soap and water. It meets American Architectural Manufacturers Association standards for window and door protection against water and air infiltration. The latex-based foam sealant features a special package of ingredients, known as CoVinyl-X9000. Unlike with polyurethane foam, there is no need for cutting or sawing when the sealant is cured. There also is no need to worry about overfilling cavities or foam overexpansion.

DAPtex Plus comes in 12-oz. cans and is available at home centers and hardware stores for $5.00 to $7.49. Contact DAP Inc., Dept. FIN, 2400 Boston St., Suite 200, Baltimore, MD 21224, call DAP's consumer help line at 888/327-8477, visit or, or circle 194.

Road drag

The Seven Blade Road Drag will smooth out the ruts in any farm road. Manufactured by Paul Wever Construction Equipment, the new drag may be pushed in front of a truck or tractor or pulled like a conventional drag.

The drag is hydraulically controlled from within the cab. It may be used not only on flat land but in ditches because it will pitch from side to side, front to aft, and can have pressure applied to the front hitch. The drag is equipped with quick-change 4×6 angle blades.

Price: $15,900. Contact Paul Wever Construction Equipment Co., Dept. FIN, Box 85, Goodfield, IL 61742, 800/990-7923, visit or, or circle 192.
