Yamaha Motor Corp. USA is accepting applications for its 2016 scholarship program for financial assistance to members of the National Agricultural Communicators of Tomorrow (ACT).

The 2016 Yamaha-ACT Scholarship Program, now in its 8^th year, offers $5,500 in awards to help students attend the annual Agricultural Media Summit (AMS), the largest gathering of agricultural media professionals in the country.

ACT is a national college student association with 350-plus members on 17 college and university campuses across the country. Its mission of fostering professional development is at the core of the Yamaha-ACT Scholarship Program.

AMS is hosted by the American Agricultural Editors’ Association (AAEA), the Livestock Publications Council (LPC), and the American Business Media Agri-Council. It is the premier career development and professional networking opportunity for ACT students each year.

“We appreciate the opportunity to partner with ACT and look forward to this scholarship program every year,” said Steve Nessl, Yamaha’s ATV/SxS marketing manager.

Nessl added, “Yamaha’s focus on this program supports students seeking careers as agricultural communications professionals while spreading the message of safe, responsible use of ATV and Side-by-Side vehicles on farms, ranches and more.”

Scholarship applicants are asked to create educational communication pieces focused on safe and responsible ATV and Side-by-Side (SxS) use in an agricultural setting. This gives ACT members the opportunity to expand their portfolios and develop professional skills.

Applications are judged based on merit, need, and the quality of the submission materials by a review committee consisting of Yamaha representatives, plus AAEA and LPC members.

The 2016 application process runs through the end of March with the winners announced in late April.
