The Texas AgriLife Extension Service has filled two important positions, one in communications and one in integrated pest management.  Adam Russell joins the communications team and will work out of Overton. Erin Jones will be the new IPM agent serving Bailey, Castro and Parmer counties. She will work from the AgriLife Extension office in Bailey county.

Adam Russell named communications specialist for Texas A&M AgriLife in Overton

Adam Russell, who for eight years was a reporter for the Tyler Morning Telegraph, has joined the Texas A&M AgriLife Communications news team and will be based in Overton.

 Russell was a regional reporter before taking the political reporter position where he covered state and local politics and elections for the Tyler paper. He also handled breaking news and wrote in-depth investigative stories and features. His most recent project was the special election section and coverage of Super Tuesday’s local, state and national elections.

AgriLife Extension names new integrated pest management agent

The Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service has named Erin Jones as its new integrated pest management agent for Bailey, Castro and Parmer counties.

Jones, who will be headquartered at the AgriLife Extension office in Bailey County, started work March 3.

Jones will be working with area farmers, scouting fields for pests and helping growers find solutions to insect pest, weed and crop disease challenges, said Dr. Charles Allen, AgriLife Extension state integrated pest management coordinator at San Angelo.
