The South Carolina Cattlemen’s Association will hold its annual meeting at the Market Center located at the new South Carolina State Farmers Market, March 4-5.

The new market center is located at 3483 Charleston Hwy, West Columbia, 29172.

This two-day annual meeting kicks off Friday, March 4 with a beef cookout and Saturday will feature a variety of sessions including the 2011 Cattleman Awards.

Commissioner of Agriculture Hugh Weathers will give a State of Agriculture address and Gary Spires from the South Carolina Farm Bureau will give a state legislative update. Jane Jenkins Herlong — an Edgefield resident, recording artist, author, and former Miss South Carolina — will be the keynote speaker at the Saturday night banquet.

The registration fee is $50 and that covers the cost of course materials and food. Accommodations can be made at the Hampton Inn located off I-26 at 101 Woodcross Drive, Columbia, 29212 or by calling 803-749-6999.
