The Sauk Prairie FFA Alumni kicks-off another Tractor Pulling Season on Memorial Day weekend playing host to their annual "Spring Dirt Fling." This two-day pulling event is one of the Alumni's main fundraising efforts. In fact, dollars generated benefit the Sauk Prairie High School Agriculture Department and FFA Chapter. "The Alumni was proud to provide monetary support for the building of the High School Ag Department's greenhouse and we want to continue to see that project prosper," shares Brad Anderson, Sauk Prairie FFA Alumni President. "Dollars raised during what some might see only as a Tractor Pull will help us continue to make improvements to the greenhouse like adding a shade cloth and hopefully a sprinkler system."

Beyond the "green" generated for further greenhouse upgrades, the FFA Alumni also supports a variety of student leadership opportunities throughout the school year and recently awarded $2400 in scholarships for local seniors pursuing a career in an agriculture-related field.

This year's "Spring Dirt Fling" action begins with the Tractor and Truck Pull at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, May 25. This Pull includes Pullers Inc. Super Farm and Hot Farm Tractor classes plus non-point classes like Light Limited Super Stock Tractors and 2-Wheel and 4-Wheel Drive Super Stock Trucks. A second night of pulling on Saturday, May 26 offers more engine revin' excitement as pull participants again take to the track at 7 pm. Both events are held at the FFA Alumni Park located under the eagle water tower in the Prairie du Sac Industrial Park. Admission is $8 for adults, $4 for children 6-12 and under 6 free. In case of severe weather, a rain date is set for Sunday, May 27.

The "Spring Dirt Fling" is proudly sponsored by Ballweg Chevrolet Pontiac Buick Sauk City, Ballweg Chevrolet Middleton and the all new Ballweg Ford in Sauk City. For more event details including a complete list of classes, visit the Sauk Prairie Area Chamber of Commerce website community calendar at www.saukprairie.com or contact Brad Kruchten at (608) 963-7293. The 2007 Pulling Season comes to a close following the Alumni's Fall Truck & Tractor Pull scheduled for August 17 and 18.

Along with funding support, FFA Alumni members serve as educational resources sharing their agricultural expertise as classroom guest speakers, field trip hosts and speaking or judging team coaches. Alumni membership is open to anyone who supports the FFA and agricultural education.
