The 2016 National Bison Association's annual summer conference will be held June 20-22 in Elk River.

The conference theme for the three-day meeting is ‘Bison: America’s Soil Builders.’

The conference host-farm, Snake River Farm, produces bison, pasture-raised swine, poultry and beef cattle.

Hosted by the Minnesota Buffalo Association, the conference features several presenters, including John Mesko, executive director of the Sustainable Farming Association, and Steve Karel and Tony Hewitt, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. North Dakota farmer and soil health expert Gabe Brown also will speak, sharing his experience on maintaining productive pastures.

The conference also features Graese's NorthStar Bison Meat fabrication manager Andre Abraham demonstrating a side-by-side bison/beef carcass breakdown using grass-fed animals from the Snake River Farm. The carcasses will then be further processed and used for the next day's Snake River Farm tour lunch, allowing attendees to take the bison versus beef slider challenge.
