Cowboys (and cowgirls) from the state of Montana are now part of the rich cattle industry heritage in an official capacity.

That's because their names have been added to the Montana Cowboy Hall of Fame & Western Heritage Center.

As the fifth class to be inducted into the honored program, the names added to the 2012 list represent what officials call individuals who have made notable contributions to the history and culture of Montana.

This is the second year that the "living" category has been added to the selections in the Legacy Awards. The new class includes at least one inductee from each of a dozen districts across the state. This year, 26 members were added as Legacy recipients, and 11 were in the "living" category of the program which originally honored members who had died.
