The Michigan Barn Preservation Network (MBPN) will be sponsoring a day-long Barn Cabling and Straightening Workshop on Saturday Sept. 6th near Hartland MI.

Cabling is the preferred method of stabilizing and reinforcing the upper frame members of an elderly barn to resist the forces of wind and snow loads. Proven methods of straightening and bracing a leaning structure will also be demonstrated in this hands on workshop.

Although the focus will be on barn structures, this workshop will demonstrate basic methods, materials and equipment used in the straightening and reinforcement of any wooden building. Any preservationist dealing with the issues of heritage wooden buildings will benefit from attending this workshop. Pre registration is required.
