High school seniors who have been involved in cattle or beef activities and who are otherwise eligible are encouraged to apply for scholarships from the Iowa Cattlemen's Foundation. Eligible students must graduate from high school this year, and meet any of these criteria:
•received Youth Beef Team training,
•completed the Masters of Beef Advocacy, or
•served as a county Beef Ambassador/Queen/Princess

APPLY NOW: Feed Energy Company, based in Des Moines, announced on March 1 that for the fifth consecutive year it is offering two $2,500 "Excellence in Ag" scholarships to students in agriculture at a college or university in the Midwest.
Candidates will compete for $1,000 scholarships, and up to three scholarships will be awarded. An additional $500 will be awarded to any $1,000 scholarship winner who has completed the online course for the MBA (Master of Beef Advocacy) by the time of the personal interviews in April.

Applications for the scholarship must be emailed or postmarked by March 15, 2016. Guidelines for the applications can be found at iowacattlemensfoundation.org.
Finalists will participate in a personal interview and presentation in Ames, scheduled for Saturday, April 2, 2016. Each finalist will give a 5- to 8-minute presentation on an issue of their choice that impacts the beef industry, and be interviewed by a panel of judges. Scholarship winners will be announced at the conclusion of the day's events.

Feed Energy opens application period for "Excellence in Ag" scholarship
Feed Energy Company, based in Des Moines, announced on March 1 that for the fifth consecutive year it is offering two $2,500 "Excellence in Ag" scholarships to students in agriculture at a college or university in the Midwest. Interested students can find more information and apply for the scholarship at feedenergy.com/resource-center/for-students/. The application deadline is April 30, 2016.
To be eligible, students must meet specific requirements, including attending a college or university in one of the following states: Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota or South Dakota. They must have an agriculture-related major, be a sophomore, junior, senior or graduate student, and have a 3.0 to 4.0 GPA. The two scholarship recipients will be chosen based on their resume, references, and a two-page essay.
"The next generation of ag leaders will be one that faces a vast and varied field of issues within our industry. Anywhere from consumer perception and communication to changes in production methods," says Joseph Riley, executive vice president. "By supporting our students, we are able to indirectly assist them in developing a well-rounded education that encompasses many different aspects within agriculture."
