Mike Pearson takes a look at changes in ag policy across the globe.

One change is with the United Kingdom and inheritance taxes.

Ag property has been largely exempt from the tax but a 20 percent tax is set to be implemented in April 2026 for ag property exceeding $1 million.

This has caused thousands of farmers to protest in London, England.

The fear is that it will force farmers to sell farms or sell parts of them to pay the tax which will break up family farms.

Next on the agenda is a trade agreement with the European Union and Argentina, Uruguay and Paraguay.

The free trade agreement was established in 2019.

French farmers are saying it will not be fair trade under the perceived weaker environmental rules in Paraguay, Uruguay and Argentina.

The French farmers say it's not equal competition due to the stringent environmental and health rules in their country compared to the other countries.

Farm Progress America is a daily look at key issues in agriculture. It is produced and presented by Mike Pearson, farm broadcaster and host of This Week in Agribusiness.
