Mike Pearson tells listeners how President Donald Trump gets sworn in as president today and how ag will be impacted this week by his presidency.
Confirmation hearings for Trump's cabinet nominees are underway this week.
This includes Brooke Rollins appearing in front of the Senate Ag Committee which is scheduled for Wednesday.
Over 400 organizations have expressed their support for her. This wide ranging group includes produce growers, farmers, ranchers and other ag professionals.
Rollins is noted for her deep rooted connections to agriculture.
She is from Texas and is familiar with baling hay and is known for her deep roots in 4H and FFA.
Rollins, who graduated from Texas A&M University with a degree in agricultural development and earned her J.D. from the University of Texas, was Trump’s domestic policy chief during his first term.
She also served as an aide to former Texas Gov. Rick Perry.
She is noted for having a close working relationship with Trump and many in ag believe this will go far in advocating for a new farm bill and stabilizing the agriculture economy.
There will also be under secretary positions nominated and confirmation hearings set and all are said to have strong backing from agriculture organizations.
Farm Progress America is a daily look at key issues in agriculture. It is produced and presented by Mike Pearson, farm broadcaster and host of This Week in Agribusiness.
