Mike Pearson takes a look at a June report from the U.S. Meat Export Federation detailing beef and pork exports.
Due to a smaller herd size and other factors, beef prices were higher. This contributed to lower exports. According to the report exports were down 4 percent from 2023 to 110,000 metric tons.
However, values from exports reached 933 million the highest value since 2022.
Japan reclaimed it's top spot in U.S. beef exports. They were up 8 percent in June 2023. The value was up 9 percent.
Taiwan and Canada were next in line. The beef exported to Canada had the highest value in 10 years -- $116.5 million up 30 percent.
In June, pork exports totaled 224.392 metric tons. However, values fell 5 percent.
The first half of 2025 was strong with 1.5 million metric tons. That's 3 percent higher than 2023.
Exports to Mexico and Columbia were down a little but remain strong.
However, Korea could have the record largest import of U.S. pork in 2024.
