Arizona farmer Sherry Saylor is the new chair of the American Farm Bureau Federation’s (AFBF) Women’s Leadership Committee.

Saylor, a third generation farmer, was elected to the post in mid-January during the 2015 AFBF annual meeting held in San Diego, Calif.

She will serve a two-year term. Saylor was elected to the AFBF Women’s Leadership Committee in 1990, and most recently served as the committee vice chair. She previously served as chair of the Arizona Women’s Leadership Committee.

Sherry and husband Rick are partners in R&S Farms in Buckeye, growing cotton, wheat, alfalfa, and barley.

“It’s so important for those of us in agriculture to be transparent about what we do to produce food,” Saylor said. “We must commit to taking our messages to local, national and even global platforms.”

In addition to the family farm, Saylor is the guidance counselor at Buckeye Elementary School, a position held for 28 years.

Saylor has a Bachelor's degree in sociology from Westmont College in Santa Barbara, Calif. and a Master’s degree in counseling from the University of Phoenix.
