The American Society of Agricultural Consultants (ASAC) will hold their annual meeting Oct. 23-25 in Oklahoma City at the Skirvin Hilton Hotel, and farmers are encouraged to attend.

The speaker lineup will focus on sharpening communication skills, discussing best practices for consulting, to understanding diversity and inclusion issues. Other topics include finance and economics from both a macroeconomic perspective and at the business, boots-on-the-ground level, to technology on the farm.

Keynote speaker Brittany Krehbiel-Hukill, a third-generation farmer from Hydro, Oklahoma, is one of a generation of emerging young professionals and will offer an inspirational message. Other sessions will focus on current regulatory issues confronting agriculture, tax law and estate planning, property rights, carbon credits, and solar/wind issues.

Tuesday afternoon includes a tour of the USDA-ARS National Grazing Lands Research Station, located west of Oklahoma City. Conference-goers will visit one of the large livestock commission yards on the route to the USDA station. These yards market thousands of head of cattle per week and are something to experience. October runs of cattle are expected to be large.

Register for the conference on the ASAC website.
