A new farm bill brings new options.

Patrick Westhoff, director of the Food and Agricultural Policy Research Institute (FAPRI) and the Howard Cowden professor of agricultural and applied economics at the University of Missouri, will summarize important features of the new farm bill for crop producers and discuss what is known and not known about the market outlook in a University of Arkansas Extension webinar Thursday, Jan. 24 at 10 A. M. Central Time..

Final approval of the 2018 farm bill removed one source of uncertainty for the farm sector, but trade issues and normal supply and demand uncertainties remain.
Westhoff grew up on an Iowa farm, has degrees from the University of Iowa and the University of Texas, and obtained his Ph.D. in agricultural economics from Iowa State University. He served in the Peace Corps in Guatemala and was an economist with the U.S. Senate Committee on Agriculture, Nutrition and Forestry before joining MU in 1996.

The webinar is one of a continuing series of webinars focused on farm economics and marketing sponsored by the Uinversity of Arkansas Exteisnon  Economics department.
