More Rangers

Polaris is beefing up its utility vehicle line with three models of its popular Ranger. The Ranger now comes in a 4 × 4 model and a 2 × 4 model in addition to the 6 × 6 model introduced earlier this year. A Fuji 499-cc, liquid-cooled engine powers the 4 × 4 vehicle. It reaches speeds of 35 to 38 mph with the Polaris variable transmission. The beefy Ranger will tow 1,500 lbs. and hold 1,000 lbs. in its cargo box. An 8-gal. fuel tank provides long-distance capability. This model retails for $8,799.

The 2 × 4 Ranger, with a 425-cc Fuji engine, reaches 35 mph. It will tow 1,400 lbs. and hold 850 lbs. in its cargo box. Retail price: $7,499. Contact Polaris, Dept. FIN, 1225 Hwy. 169 N., Minneapolis, MN 55441, 763/542-2314,

Utility cab blocks wind

A new, totally enclosed cab will keep the cold winds from chilling you when you drive your Kawasaki utility vehicle this winter. Designed for Kawasaki Mules, the 3000 series cab features a tempered glass windshield with unobstructed view. Gas shocks assist in opening the windshield to reach the in-dash storage area. Otherwise, the windshield may be opened slightly for ventilation. The entire cab can be installed in 2 ½ hours, according to the manufacturer. Optional cab doors slide off or on in seconds. The main cab structure lists for $1,299. A steel door set costs $869, and a fabric door set is $599. Other new utility accessories are also available at or from your local Kawasaki dealer.

Drive further

A new replacement fuel tank will extend the fuel capacity and driving range on 1994 to 2001 Dodge Ram extended-cab or quad-cab pickups. A 54-gal. fuel tank fits on long-bed pickups, and a 45-gal. tank fits on short beds. Constructed of 12- and 14-gauge aluminized steel and powder-coated black, the tanks may be purchased for diesel or gas. All parts needed for installation come with the fuel tank system. Prices range from $667 to $826, depending on model, size and fuel type. Contact Transfer Flow Inc., Dept. FIN, 1444 Fortress St., Chico, CA 95973, 800/442-0056,

Utility scraper

Use your utility-size tractors to move dirt with the new Hoelscher model 750 towable scraper. The scraper attaches to the 3-pt. hitch on 35- to 50-hp tractors and cuts a 60-in. swath. The pull design allows good leveling ability, according to the manufacturer. The operator can hydraulically control the scraper to carry the material from one location to another without dragging it across grass or sidewalks. Price: $3,450. Contact Hoelscher Inc., Dept. FIN, Box 195, Bushton, KS 67427, 620/562-3575.
