Michigan State University Extension will host the 2021 MI Ag Ideas to Grow With Conference from Feb. 15 to 19. The program combines past MSU Extension events such as Ag Action Day, Branch County Farmers Day, and Southwest Michigan Horticultural Days into one cumulative weeklong program.

It will encompass many aspects of the agricultural industry and offer a full array of educational sessions for farmers and homeowners interested in food production and those considering agricultural endeavors.

“While this program will be offered virtually this year, our goal is to continue providing the same outstanding educational information to the public, just in a new platform,” says Bruce MacKellar, MSU Extension educator based in Van Buren County.

This weeklong educational experience will feature a variety of tracks focused on livestock production, fruit and vegetable production, sustainability, soil health and irrigation, and horticulture and home gardening. A track will also be offered for youth participants.

Each day will focus on specific topics with sessions occurring at the top of every hour. To support schedule variations, the horticulture and home gardening topics, along with the animal agriculture sessions, will be featured daily throughout the week. All sessions will be held using the Zoom platform.

“We are excited about offering the MI Ag Ideas to Grow With Conference,” says Beth Ferry, MSU Extension educator based in Berrien County. “We plan to offer a variety of educational topics and sessions that speak to the robust agricultural industry in Michigan and increasing interest in food production.”

While there is no cost to participate, attendees must register to receive access to the necessary Zoom links.  Attendees are able to attend as many sessions as they would like and are also able to jump around between tracks.

Restricted-use pesticide and certified crop adviser credits will be offered for several of the sessions. More information can be found at canr.msu.edu
