The roundtable discussion on the health effects of petroleum fuel at the upcoming 2018 Iowa Renewable Fuels Summit has only one question for you: Is your fuel killing you?

The panelists will discuss the latest research into the health risks of petroleum fuel and how biofuels can reduce those risks. The roundtable will feature Zigang Dong, executive director of The Hormel Institute, Steffen Mueller, principal economist of the Energy Resources Center at the University of Illinois-Chicago, and Angela Tin, vice president of environmental health for the American Lung Association. The roundtable will be moderated by Jessie Stolark, a policy associate with the Environmental and Energy Study Institute.

Impact of liquid fuels on human health
“We are excited to host some of the world’s most well-respected experts on the impact of liquid fuels on human health,” says Monte Shaw, Iowa Renewable Fuels Association executive director. “The choices we as consumers make at the pump have long-term effects on our health and the health of our families. This discussion will bring these realities to light.”

The summit is free to attend and open to the public. Registration is required. The last day to preregister is Jan. 26. The summit will be Jan. 30 at the Meadows Conference Center at Prairie Meadows in Altoona.

The annual IRFA summit is the second-largest biofuels policy conference in the country, Shaw says. Ethanol and biodiesel industry leaders, farmers, and anyone else interested in getting the latest information on renewable fuels should attend this one-day conference. Presentations will be given on the health benefits of clean-burning biofuels; how trade policy will shape future opportunities; the market outlook for biofuels and coproducts; how the proliferation of electric vehicles may impact biofuels; and other future policy expectations.

There’s also a trade show where you can learn about the latest innovations to assist in the growth and profitability of the biofuels industry.
