The Capps Center in Indianola, Miss., will host the Mississippi Women in Agriculture seminar Feb. 24-26. The intensive seminar is designed for women with a passion for the farming operation, involvement, and a desire to increase knowledge and skills, said organizers of the event. It is also designed to help farm women to be better business partners and/or owner/operators.

“Of all the workshops I have attended, this seminar was one of the most informative,” said Sherilyn Jones of Moorhead, Miss., who attended a similar seminar last year and learned about farm and estate planning, and farm operations.

“We women need to know about our local industry and how we can promote the farming economy. There has never been a better time to take this chance for giving back to our farming community. Take the time … it is worth it.”

The program begins each day at 9 a.m. and concludes by 4 p.m.

Among topics to be addressed: business plans, estate planning, financial record-keeping, marketing, risk management, and human resources.

Registration is limited and required. Interested persons are encouraged to register as soon as possible to reserve a seat. The cost is $60.

A statewide conference will follow in April at the Hilton in Jackson, Miss. The conference is planned for all persons with an interest and love for areas of agriculture production.
