Fertilizer placement is getting its share of attention as corn producers look for ways to push toward higher yield levels. Placing starter on each side of the row, a concept made popular by winners of the National Corn Growers Association yield contest recently, is picking up speed. 360 Yield Center introduced a product with that concept in mind a year ago and sold out quickly. Bandit is tweaked for 2019, and full production of units is expected for the coming season.

That’s only one of the new products offered for handling and applying fertilizer for 2019. There are improved valves and sensors for working with and applying anhydrous ammonia. Companies continue to work on ways to detect NH3 blockage in certain rows and improve even, efficient application of anhydrous ammonia as a nitrogen source across the working width of the nitrogen applicator.

There are also products to handle liquids more efficiently as you’re preparing batches and to get them to the nurse tank or applicator most effectively. Products new for 2019 run the gamut from small enough to fit in your hand to a large applicator rig that applies fertilizer in strip-till from Hawkins. Be sure to use the contact information listed for each product to get more information.
