Pecan producers reaping GPS rewards

More and more applications for GPS technology are being realized for production agriculture. One of the most recent examples is using GPS systems to plant commercial pecan trees in orchards within one-half inch accuracy. GPS also has a future in variable input management in pecan orchards allowing more precise applications and the potential to save producers’ money. This technology could also be applied to other tree nut crops.

Cary Blake, Western Farm Press associate editor, talks with Pedro Andrade, University of Arizona precision agriculture specialist.
