Maybe your rotary mower has seen better days. Or maybe you need a dependable mower to keep grass cut in the barn lot or the yard. Companies that make mowers of all sizes and descriptions have you covered with a wide range of new products displayed at farm shows recently. If it cuts grass or weeds and is new since the last round of fall farm shows, odds are the Farm Progress editorial team found it. Peruse the slideshow accompanying this story to see what’s available.

Several companies noted for making quality rotary mowers pulled by tractors or, in some cases, powered by skid-steer loaders, brought new models for display at this year’s shows. Rhino Ag exhibited a new model for the rotary mower market, as did Shulte, which introduced the FX 212 mower featuring a narrow design that may appeal to many people.

Bush Hog, known for rotary mowers, introduced a single-spindle rotary mower. Bush Hog rotary mowers have been around for so long and are so popular that many people refer to all rotary mowers as “bush hogs,” even though only models from Bush Hog itself can carry that name. Hiniker, a name more often associated with specialized tillage equipment, introduced a flail mower intended as an attachment for skid-steer loaders.

Several companies introduced specialized mowing equipment for both farmers and rural homeowners. Kioti brought a new zero-turn mower for people to see this year. And a less familiar name gaining a foothold in the ag market, Greenworks, introduced a zero-turn mower powered by batteries.

The Exmark brand now includes a 52-inch, stand-on-type mower for tough jobs. It joins a lineup of other heavy-duty Exmark products. Finally, check out the simple attachments for John Deere, offered by John Deere dealers, which allow you to lift a mower deck with a small utility tractor with a bucket. It makes lawn mower maintenance much easier and safer.
