Where were ATVs and UTVs a few decades ago? Many farmers grew up spraying fencerows and cutting weeds the hard way — with backpack sprayers, hand-held scythes and various versions of hand-held weed cutters. Today you can carry enough spray to the field to spray fencerows all day long, and you can even ride there in style.

However, until now there were two distinct options for a sprayer that would fit in the back of an ATV or UTV. You could buy a low-cost model that might not be as durable as you liked, or spend considerably more cash for a deluxe model.

Bestway has introduced a new line of sprayers that fit in the back of almost any UTV. They are durable, yet they fall in the midprice range.

“That’s why we decided to put this model together,” says Dave Benson of Bestway. “We saw a need for a durable sprayer that was affordable in this market.”

Bestway’s answer is a sprayer that features the company’s trademarked FiberWorks boom system as an option. These folding booms are available in 12- and 18-foot lengths.

The FiberWorks folding booms have a breakaway feature, Benson says. That increases durability and prevents breakage in case the boom slaps into a tree or other obstacle during operation.

You can choose from three sizes of spray tanks: 40, 60 or 100 gallons. You can also choose between an electric pump or Honda gas engine and roller pump option. The sprayer includes a manual hose reel to keep sprayer hose for hand-held operations from becoming tangled.

Tom’s take
If you have a UTV, you can turn it into a versatile spraying machine to clean up fencerows, gravel driveways in barn lots and other odd areas by adding a sprayer in the back. However, if you’re going to spray fencerows and such, the last thing you need is a breakdown. This Bestway sprayer appears to be built tough enough to last for several years if you take care of it.

Lon’s views
This looks like a high-quality, durable UTV sprayer at a reasonable price. You don’t see manufacturers hit that sweet spot too often. I’ve made the mistake of buying the cheap UTV sprayers, and they don’t last very long.

Mindy’s thoughts
This sure beats sitting in the passenger side of a UTV with a hand-held sprayer. I think this one fits in the market for the more-than-occasional spray jobs. This model is for those weeds that need dealt with on an annual basis.
