Equipment Exports Up

U.S. agricultural equipment manufacturers experienced a 9% growth in exports for the first half of 2007. The biggest increase in exports was to South America where equipment shipped was up 36% from a year before for a total of $297 million. Farm equipment exports to Europe rose 25% for a total of $2 billion, and exports to Asia were up 7% for a total of $375 million.

Countries with the greatest increase in U.S. equipment exports for the first six months include the Ukraine with a 113% increase for a total of $142 million; Russia with a 112% increase for a total of $279 million; and Brazil with a 52% increase for a total of $113 million. Canada remains the biggest buyer of U.S. farm equipment, though, for a total of $1.15 billion, which is down 3% for the time period. — Association of Equipment Manufacturers
