Compact antenna

The Wi-Fire integrates a high-gain directional antenna and strong receiver sensitivity in a compact package that allows users to connect to a wireless computer network up to 1,000 ft. away. That’s more than three times the range of typical wireless networks. It operates with any 802.11 b/g access point. At 3 x 4 in. and 3/8 in. thick, it can mount directly on a laptop computer or can be placed alongside. The USB device includes Connection Manager 2.0 software, which is fully integrated with Windows XP and Vista and offers automatic security setting recognition. It’s also compatible with Macintosh computers.

The suggested retail price is $79. Contact hField Technologies, Dept. FIN, 115 Research Dr., Bethlehem, PA 18015, 877/743-4353, www.hfield.com.
