Ag PhD, FMC introduce new mobile app for growers, retailers

FMC Corporation has introduced a mobile application that puts valuable agricultural information at the fingertips of growers, retailers and consultants. The Ag PhD Field Guide, from FMC and Ag PhD, helps to identify weeds and keep users informed, no matter the location. Field Guide is a mobile resource for weed identification, agriculture news, HatchTrak Newsletters, Ag PhD podcasts and instant online access.

“This application by FMC is the first of its kind and allows users to access important agricultural information anywhere they are — from the field to the barn to the tractor,” said Matt Foster, FMC Agricultural Products North America product manager. “Working with Ag PhD, we’ve determined the type of information that is valuable to growers, retailers and consultants and provided it for them at their fingertips.”

Field Guide can pinpoint problem weeds from a searchable, comprehensive list. Detailed descriptions and photos help to determine the weed and how to control it. A saved list of key weeds can be kept for quick, easy reference. The app also allows users to stay connected with the latest updates and reports while gaining knowledge from the Field Tips feature.

“With weed pressures growing, it’s important for growers to know what issues they face in their fields,” said Brian Hefty, co-host of Ag PhD. “The Ag PhD Field Guide makes it easy to identify problem weeds and provides guidance on various options for control.”

Current and past FMC HatchTrak Newsletters, featuring recommendations from FMC technical experts, are available through the app along with links to direct users to the Ag PhD and FMC websites. In addition, users can listen to Ag PhD radio updates for tips and ideas from Brian and Darren Hefty.

The app is currently available for the iPhone and iPad with AndroidTM availability coming soon. Download the Field Guide app by searching the Apple App StoreSM for Field Guide by Ag PhD or by downloading it at
