AgroBravo, a Brazil-based international travel and event company, is teaming up with Iowa State University Agricultural Entrepreneurship Initiative and Hawkeye Community College to offer a five-session virtual course called Contrarian Agriculture Series.
Attendees and speakers for the series will be farm and agribusiness professionals from the U.S. and Brazil.
“The program is designed to make you rethink several concepts that we formulate in our environment and share with you ways to find your unique way of thinking to shape the future of your business,” says AgroBravo founder Julio Bravo.
Invited guest lecturers include Federico Trucco, CEO with Bioceres, Paulo Herrmann, president of John Deere Brasil, Harry Stine, CEO and founder of Stine Seeds, Bruce Rastetter, CEO and founder of Summit Ag Group, and venture capitalist Rob Trice, with Mixing Bowl, an ag tech innovation company.
“To build the future we need to challenge the dogmas that shape our view of the past,” says Bravo. “That doesn’t mean the opposite of what is believed is necessarily true, it means that you need to rethink what is and is not true and determine how that shapes how we see the world today.”
As Silicon Valley entrepreneur and investor Peter Thiel says, “The most contrarian thing of all is not to oppose the crowd but to think for yourself.”
Organizers hope to accomplish three things:
- Help participants think differently about what is and is not true and determine how that shapes how we see the world today;
- Understand how agribusiness leaders from the United States and Brazil are shaping the future of the world;
- Connect with farmers and agribusinesses professionals from all around the world to develop your unique thinking and actions.
The course will be taught in English (with simultaneous translation in Portuguese) and participants will receive a certificate issued by Iowa State University. Zoom sessions take place in the evenings July 14, July 21, July 28, Aug. 4, and Aug. 11.
