CANCELED FARM BREAKFAST: The planning committee for the Stearns County Breakfast on the Farm has canceled its annual June Dairy Month on-farm breakfast. Stearns was the first in Minnesota to announce closure due to COVID-19.Paula Mohr

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Stearns County Breakfast on the Farm committee has decided to cancel this year’s event that was scheduled for June 6.

In a news release, the committee explained it had been wrestling with making the decision since the beginning of March and had sought guidance from state and local officials. They waited until early April to make the call to cancel.

“There are many different timelines, projections and curves that forecast when things might return to normal,” the planning committee noted. “Unfortunately, nobody really knows what to expect and timelines vary considerably. It is for this reason we felt that cancelling was the responsible thing to do.”

The Stearns event, one of the most highly attended events in June, showcases Minnesota’s dairy farming businesses.

“We have prided ourselves on putting on a high-quality event that is safe for our visitors for the past 12 years and we will continue to do just that,” the committee added. “So, for this year we will be taking a break and anticipate seeing everyone again in 2021.”

The future event will be held at the same location, the Kerfeld family’s Hillview Farm, on June 5, 2021.
