Webinar: insurance application
HOW-TO: During the webinar, participants will learn how to prepare for a monthly contract offering, how to submit an insurance application and common insurance contract designs.

The funding limitation imposed on the Livestock Gross Margin for Dairy Cattle insurance program was eliminated via the federal budget agreement signed last month. Coupling this with dairy farm operators now being able to opt out of USDA’s Margin Protection Program for the remainder of the calendar year, there has been a significant increase in producer interest in the LGM-Dairy program.

From 9:30 to 11 a.m. on March 28, Brian Gould, University of Wisconsin-Madison Extension ag economics specialist, will conduct a webinar providing a review of program participation and structure.

From 9:30 to 10:30 a.m., Gould will address:

• fundamentals of USDA’s LGM-Dairy Program
• overview of UW’s LGM-Dairy Analyzer software system

From 10:30 to 11 a.m., Ron Mortensen of Dairy Gross Margin LLC will discuss:

• nuts and bolts of preparing for a monthly contract offering
• mechanics of submitting an insurance application
• common insurance contract designs

A question-and-answer session will be conducted after the webinar for as long as there are questions.

The GoToMeeting system will be used to conduct the webinar. All that is needed to join this meeting is a web browser. The webinar also will be recorded and will be available as an MP4 file from the Understanding Dairy Markets website.

Preregistration is not required. There is a limit of 100 connections, so it is recommended that instead of individuals joining the meeting, groups of producers and dairy industry participants join to allow for a greater number of attendees.

Gould will be online 15 minutes prior to the start of the webinar. The following is the connection information that should be used March 28:
